Is anyone else still pretending like My American Heart never broke up?

theelegantdisguise:

all day. err’day. what?

The fact that they kept having shows for a least a year after they “broke up” made me think that they weren’t really going to ever break up. Also, I was skeptical that their “last show ever” in Pomona was legitimately their last show. They’ll come back again. Just watch.

Pentatonix’s “Evolution of Music”

This was amazing to me because back in college (wow that sounds weird saying it!), I had to take 4 different music history classes and I learned about every one of these genres/time periods that PTX goes through in this video. I really enjoyed listening to sing all of these different periods dating back to the 11the century! So awesome :) It’s great when musicians know their roots and where it all came from.

More updates on my ROTD (Review of the Day)! I woke up this morning with an inbox full of compliments from fellow Yelpers congratulating me on my ROTD! Also, my review is listed on the Yelp San Jose homepage, which means all Yelpers who have set their home location to San Jose will see my review on their homepage! HOW EXCITING :D I’m falling in love with Yelp all over again :)

OMG YOU GUYS. It’s a good thing I decided to become active again Yelp because….

TODAY ONE OF MY REVIEWS GOT AWARDED “REVIEW OF THE DAY (ROTD) 5/17/2013” FOR THE SAN JOSE/SOUTH BAY AREA COMMUNITY!

WAHOOOOOO!

I’ve attached a screenshot of my review with the beeeautiful star and ROTD 5/17/2013 listed above my profile picture :) And then underneath is a screenshot I took which explains what ROTD means. It’s a pretty hard award to come by because only one person gets chosen per day. I honestly didn’t think I would ever get awarded this, but apparently I am worthy of writing a great review!

My review for Aqui Cal-Mex won! :) SO EXCITING.

Anyways, just thought I’d let you know :P It’s not really anything people know about unless they are in the Yelp community, but I was pretty excited about it :)

Anddd it’s almost 4am and I’m driving to LA with my parents tomorrow so I should probably go to sleep.

Yelp Elite

So today I got an email from the Yelp Council saying they noticed I have been inactive lately, and said they would remove my Yelp 2013 Elite badge if I continued to be inactive.

I got super freaked out because I worked my BUTT off to get that badge, so I just wrote six new reviews and uploaded several photos from my phone.

Good news is I’ve already received a compliment from a fellow Yelper for one of the reviews I just wrote, and I’ve gotten some likes on a few of the reviews I just wrote as well!

I’m definitely going to try to write a few reviews each week just to stay active. I think I will probably get more excited to use my Elite member privileges once I am living in LA and can go to all of the awesome events and whatnot!

Also, on another note: I am very excited to go to LA tomorrow for the weekend and hopefully dine at some of my favorite restaurants down there! Woohoo!

I was srsly lollin’ during this episode.

Tokyo, Japan-based mother Aya Sakai has been charting the adventures of her young son and his best friend, which just happens to be a French Bulldog.

omg. Too cute. I have a weakness for french bulldogs, pugs, dachshunds and corgis.

Apartment Hunting

Is so stressful and difficult! For the past week and a half I have been researching apartments online. After looking at so many different listings and websites, I definitely have a much better understanding of what to look for in each listing and what amenities I’m looking for in an apartment. It’s just difficult because although most listings have pictures, I still can’t REALLY judge the apartment unless I see it in person.

I’ve created this Google Drive spreadsheet that has all of the listings I’ve liked in it, and has different columns for different bits of info on each listing (price/month, deposit, distance from work, address, sq. ft., utilities?, amenities, pets allowed or not allowed, link to website).

As of this morning, I had 15 potential apartments on my list, and contacted all of them through their websites asking if I could schedule appointments for this Saturday. My parents and I are driving to LA on Friday, checking out apartments all day Saturday (and possibly Sunday morning if needed), and then driving home on Sunday. So far, 3 of the 15 said they don’t have any one bedroom apartments available, 2 said yes and I have booked appointments with them, and the rest have yet to respond :(

I got even more stressed out this evening because we’ll be touring apartments in just THREE days and I really need to schedule and book these appointments ASAP. I just added ten more apartments to my Google spreadsheet and sent emails/requests to each of them, so hopefully I’ll have some responses by the morning.

Once I finally find a place, I will be happy :) I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently, and I’m pretty excited about having an apartment all to myself for the first time in my life. It’s going to be weird because I’ve never lived on my own before and I’m scared I might get lonely, but I’ve decided that I’m just going to make it feel like my own home as much as possible. I’m already thinking of ways to decorate it and I am SUPER excited to go furniture/decor shopping once I finally move down there! :)

Wish me luck with the apartment hunt! I will definitely take lots of pics this weekend (wide angle and fish eye lenses are going to come SO in handy!), and possibly even post pics of my final choice up on here :D

New phone?

I am officially eligible for a phone upgrade as of this month. I currently use an iPhone 4S, but for some reason recently I’ve been thinking about abandoning iPhones all together and moving onto something different.

I have been a faithful iPhone user ever since the very first generation came out. I used my birthday money from my 16th birthday back in 2007 to purchase the very first generation. I felt so cool being one of the very first people to get the new phone and it was so much better than the phone I was using at the time — my pink Motorola Slvr. After my two years with the first gen. were over, I got the iPhone 3GS, and two years after that, I got the iPhone 4S.

I’m kind of annoyed with being on the “S” line of iPhones. I really don’t like how every other phone that comes out from Apple is basically only “half” of an upgrade, because the body/physical appearance hardly changes and the only significant difference is the iOS update… I feel like I really want to get off of this “S” line trend because I’m stuck on the track that has me due for an upgrade every time an “S” version of the iPhone comes out.

I’m also getting a bit bored with the general look of the menu, etc. of the iPhone. It’s practically been the same thing with the same icons, operates basically the same way as it originally did back when the very first iPhone came out. I’m getting tired of the layout and it’s not really exciting to look at anymore. Of course, I haven’t updated my phone to iOS for several reasons and that could/would be a little of a change for me if I ever were to upgrade to iOS 6.whatever, but I just really haven’t been interested in it. I’d like to keep my OG Google Maps app over Apple maps, kthnx.

Today I decided to research new phones out on the market right now, and the top two picks seem to be the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4. Out of these two, I really love how the HTC One looks. It looks really similar to the white iPhone 5 from the front, but almost better… It has the same aluminum body, but it just looks so sleek and I really love it. I’m also loving the “BoomSound” speakers on the front of the HTC One, which give it a more stereo-effect and also allows for the phone to just project louder than the iPhone speakers which are located at the bottom of the phone.

I’m not sure if I really like the S4… It seems pretty similar to the S3 (not saying that’s a bad thing), but I’m particularly interested in the HTC One because it’s the first of its kind. Then again, that could be a bad thing because there haven’t been any previous models of it out before.

The only problem with abandoning the iPhone line of phones is that I’m comfortable using it, and also it would be really weird switching to a non-Apple product after so many years of being Apple-only. My iCloud wouldn’t work anymore, I wouldn’t have the compatibility with an Android phone that I get from using an iPhone with other Apple products, etc. I’d also have to buy a new car phone charger, and most likely wouldn’t be able to borrow phone chargers from friends because 90% of my friends have iPhones (pre-iPhone 5) with the universal charger that existed before Lightning.

Anyways…that’s just something I’ve been thinking about lately (meaning today, hahaha). I may not even get a new phone anytime soon because 1) I have no money, and 2) my dad most likely will not get me a new phone because he is already spending a ton of money relocating me to Los Angeles, so we’ll see. I’m having a graduation party in July, so if I get a decent amount of money I could spend it on a new phone. We’ll see what happens.
