Thankful to be around awesome musicians

theelegantdisguise:

It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed doing the one thing that started it all: playing music. Sure, recording music is an amazing and fun experience, but it’s totally different from actually being able to play music. I haven’t been able to play any of my original material in a while because I’ve been waiting for the right moment to start recording my first full-length album. I don’t want to be putting out small low quality demos any longer. I want to self-produce my whole album and Professor Jeff is definitely giving me this opportunity now that I’m going to be a sound engineer in training! And I’m definitely getting some major upgrades on my home studio :D! Here comes the next Jesse Barrera/Goot for ya haha!

Aside from my own stuff, I just recently filled some spots for two other bands. My friend and colleague Robert Moreno invited me to audition on drums for his band Suburban Summer and got my SJ drum brotha Vincent Wang to let me audition on bass for his band Smoke Signals. Both of these bands have awesome music and I’m thankful these guys gave me the opportunity to showcase my musical capabilities. A lot of people don’t know that I do more than just guitar and vocals, so I was glad to hear from the band members of both bands that I sounded good haha! Though I’m nothing more than alright, honestly. Also, pretty funny how both band names have SS as an acronym ;P!

Back to my stuff, The Elegant Disguise is still alive! We are definitely going to be writing some new material alongside the stuff we have now. Hopefully we can make an EP available by Summer 2012? And though we haven’t had a show since September, we’ll be kicking off our first show of the year on February 4th at the STK’s and STONES JAM here at Pacific. In addition, we recently just added our new lead guitar player, Nick Ehnat and are now managed by the awesome Jacqueline Rocamora! Let’s hope our practices go smoothly and we hope to see you all soon :D!
